As some regions increased their market share in Northwest Europe last year, others faded away. The flow of middle distillates from the United States declined 18% from 154,000 bpd in 2018 to 127,000 bpd in 2019.

The result of a market awash in cargoes of middle distillate last year was the emergence of abnormal trade lanes, some of the most interesting of which ended in Northwest Europe
